Heavy rain black character2/3/2024 It's fair to criticize the plot twist, that kinda came out of nowhere, but some of the criticisms are just people being lazy. Like someone down below asks how the killer got all the time and money to do this. Some of the criticism really goes so far. It's like when people complain about a movie when twp strangers don't exchange numbers and they wonder how they're going to call each other after one says "call me". Some of the very interesting things they do. Then you can see some of the stuff they do really well. You just do nothing so the voice acting gets repetitive and it looks stupid because no one would act that way in real life. Like not making a choice in the game when you have to make a choice. Many people really just want to see the worst out of it. It tells a story that's been told so many times before. This is one of the biggest flaws in the game. You either hurt the story, or you hurt the game. Like having a good samaritan that decides not to help a stranger with someone really easy because the player feels like being a dick. This is because both paths have to make sense, which usually is impossible because well written characters would usually handle in a specific way. When you create a story that has multiple paths and multiple results, it's always going to suffer. It's also much easier to make a story work when it's linear. Meanwhile even Ethan thought he was the killer the entire game, and seemed to still have evidence against him. What kind of info did Madison even get on Shelby being the killer? He torched anything too incriminating, and the guy himself was grinded to death, so he can't give a confession or anything. The thing that mostly confuses me is how Ethan got off at the end. The blackouts never coming up again was really fucking stupid, as they could've been a better way of pushing towards the idea that Ethan Mars is the killer after all, but nope, they literally only exist to kickstart the plot and sow the seeds of suspicion for Ethan being the killer and are barely mentioned again. I'm guessing that they didn't want Ethan to have another side of himself end up being the killer because then we'd have a character that we've been relating to for a majority of the game technically be guilty of being a child murderer, which would be kinda awkward in the "does this person deserve a happy ending" department.
